Employee Spotlight: Sam Perochon

Hailing from a small town near the Atlantic coast of France, Niort, we are so happy to have Sam Perochon as part of our Duke Center for Autism team. Sam joined our team in 2019 as a visiting scholar and now continues working with us as a Ph.D. candidate in applied mathematics, where he is co-supervised by Dr. Laurent Oudre (France) and Dr. Guillermo Sapiro (Duke). Sam completed his undergraduate studies in electrical engineering at the Ecole Normale Superieure Paris-Saclay (ENSPS) in France in 2018, where he also completed his Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science in 2021.

Sam works as a part of our technical team analyzing data for the SenseToKnow application, and also works with the Neurology Department at Duke investigating the use of mathematics to quantify the severity of dysexecutive syndromes. His work here at the Autism Center served as his first research experience and has helped to guide his future goals of seeking a postdoctoral position that will allow him to continue his research at the intersection of mathematics and medicine.

Sam speaks so highly of his experience here at Duke, where he travels with his beloved orange bike seeking quiet reading spots, coffee shops, or fresh bakery bread smothered with mountains of Nutella! Sam’s intellectual contributions are as equally valued as his cheerful and playful spirit that he brings to our center – Thank you for all that you do for us, Sam!
