The aViation Study

This research study is sponsored by F. Hoffman-La Roche Ltd.

The aViation study will test if an investigational study drug can improve the social communication and interaction skills of 5-to-17 year olds with ‘high-functioning’ ASD. The investigational study drug blocks a hormone receptor in the brain that is linked to the control of socialization, stress, anxiety, and aggression. This study involves taking a study medication or a placebo (no active medication) daily for 24 weeks in addition to visiting our center approximately 7 times. These visits involve physical exams, blood tests and questionnaires. In between these visits, a nurse may visit your home to collect more blood samples and check on the participant. The entire study will last approximately 39 weeks.
