Please join us for the first presentation in our 2023-2024 Duke Center for Autism Speaker Series! THIS IS A HYBRID TALK WITH BOTH IN-PERSON AND ZOOM WEBINAR ATTENDANCE OPTIONS. The in-person location is Duke North Pavilion, Room 0400; see webcast link for Zoom attendance. Our speakers will be Aubyn Stahmer, PhD, and Petrus de Vries, MBChB, PhD. Their talk will highlight factors relevant to implementation of autism research and clinical care in South Africa and the United States. Dr. de Vries will discuss the context of autism research and intervention in low-resource contexts, like South Africa, and the need for a systematic process of community engagement to lay the groundwork for research readiness. He will highlight a specific example of the process of implementing a naturalistic developmental behavioral intervention in South Africa. Dr. Stahmer will discuss the importance of engaging leaders in the implementation of evidence-based practice. She will highlight a leadership-training program, recently tested in mental health clinics and schools, and discuss practical strategies leaders can use to support providers. PLEASE REGISTER IN ADVANCE AT THE LINK PROVIDED.
