Lindsay Oberman, PhD
Dr. Lindsay Oberman is a staff scientist and directs the Developmental Clinical Neurophysiology and Neurostimulation Research Program within the National Institute of Mental Health Intramural Research Program. She has gained international attention for pioneering the use of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) in complex neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders including autism, mood disorders, and traumatic brain injury. Her talk will review the current evidence for TMS protocols for Autism Spectrum Disorder. She will first review the mechanisms of action of TMS and how it may be utilized to study the brain mechanisms underlying ASD. Next, she will share cutting edge research being conducted at NIH where researchers are using repetitive TMS as an experimental therapeutics tool to investigate both the brain and behavioral impact of repetitive TMS protocols in an effort to develop novel therapeutic interventions.
