Employee Spotlight: Charlotte Stoute

Originally from Panama and Denmark, Charlotte Stoute brings a multicultural perspective to her work here at the center. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Duke, Charlotte was among the first to begin working at the Autism Center in 2015. Through her ten-year tenure, Charlotte has grown into her role as Regulatory coordinator, and excels at helping studies across the center. Charlotte is especially passionate about research that improves access to services for families facing structural or linguistic barriers to care. Because of this passion, she serves as the lead trainer for our Spanish translations, and also co-leads the Racial Equity Taskforce here at the Autism Center.

Charlotte is currently pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Research through Duke’s Clinical Research Training Program. For the future, she plans to continue her studies and hopes to guide the Autism Center in making both diagnostic services and research more accessible to a broad range of communities. Her goal is to help make regulatory systems more effective, efficient, and sustainable so that the Autism Center can continue to provide high-quality care and ensure that those most impacted by research outcomes have a voice in shaping the research itself. Charlotte values the collaborative and mission-focused culture here at the Autism Center. She finds inspiration working alongside people who are committed to advancing science in ways that make a real difference for families. She admires the strong emphasis on thoughtful, cross-disciplinary work and creativity in solving complex problems, and loves the many opportunities to meet with people both within and outside of the center.

Charlotte has a passion for languages and frequently practices her Danish and Spanish, and aims to help others learn and practice as well. She is an exceptional athlete who dances, practices yoga, through-hikes, and participates in ultramarathons. Charlotte is a vibrant and bubbly team member who consistently goes above and beyond, dedicating herself to our mission. We are truly fortunate to have her as a part of our team – so, please, if you happen to see Charlotte (often seen wearing polka dots!) around the center, take a moment to thank her for her numerous and valued contributions!
