Employee Spotlight: Evan Watson

Evan Watson, the Autism Center’s communications specialist has been with us since 2023. Originally from Winston-Salem, NC, Evan completed his Bachelor’s degree from The University of North Carolina at Wilmington, double majoring in history, and philosophy and religion. He then went on to complete a master’s program in library science at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he later worked as the overnight librarian at the 24 hour undergraduate library. Evan has written documentation and training materials for a call center, gaining national recognition in the industry for incorporating improv theatre into call center agent training.

Coming in without a science background, Evan has been a quick learner and has familiarized himself with research processes and the current state of medical research and the neurodiversity community. As a librarian, Evan has been able to use his expertise to connect the center to a broader range of individuals, translating complex subjects and ideas into information that is accessible and understandable to non-scientists. Evan works to expand the reach of our communications and help the center become a steady and reliable voice for families who look to us for accurate and reliable information. Outside of work, Evan enjoys hosting Dungeons and Dragons and watching minor league baseball whenever possible. If you see Evan around, please take a moment to thank him for his invaluable contributions! Thank you, Evan!
