Sponsored by The Hans Lowenbach, MD Memorial Endowment Fund Darlene King, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in general adult psychiatry and clinical informatics. Dr. King earned her mechanical engineering degree at UT Austin, her medical degree at UT Southwestern, where she also completed her residency in Psychiatry and served as chief resident her final year. She joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2022. In addition to her clinical work at UTSW, Dr. King serves as the Behavioral Health Physician Informaticist for Parkland Health. Dr. King is the chair of the American Psychiatric Association (APA)'s Mental Health Information Technology Committee, where she leads mental health technology initiatives for education and advocacy. At UT Southwestern, she leads the UTSW Ethics in AI initiative and is the sponsor of the medical students' AI interest group. Her most recent publication was co-authored with Drs. Howard Liu and Adam Brenner titled: Academic Psychiatry in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, an editorial introducing Academic Psychiatry's Special Edition on AI (https://rdcu.be/d8wgh).
