Busse, MD, ScD Lectureship Endowment Fund Dr. María Marquine is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine (Division of Geriatrics) at Duke University School of Medicine, and Associate Scientific Director for Research Career Development at the Duke Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development. Dr. Marquine completed her PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Arizona, and two postdoctoral fellowships, one in clinical neuropsychology at Duke University and another on neuropsychology research at the University of California San Diego (UCSD). She built her early research career at UCSD and returned to Duke three years ago to help expand research in populations at risk for neurocognitive decline, including the growing Latino community in the region. Her work has centered on the development of tools for the accurate detection of neurocognitive disorders among Hispanics/Latinos and on identifying mechanisms underlying disparities in neurocognitive decline in this group. She is committed to supporting the development of early career scientists and has served in leadership roles in various NIH-funded research training programs, including currently serving as Co-Director of the Duke Aging Center T32 Program.
