Duke cord blood trial described on CNN Vital Signs

A Duke study evaluating whether umbilical cord blood is an effective treatment for autism was featured this month on the CNN program Vital Signs with Sanjay Gupta.

Duke researchers are in the middle of a randomized, placebo-controlled trial to more rigorously evaluate this treatment. We are no longer recruiting for the study because we have enough children screened to finish enrollment.   We won’t have results for another 2 years but will publish them when they are available.

The Duke Center for Autism and Brain Development encourages families interested in participating in research to enter their information in the Duke Registry for Autism Research so they may be contacted for future Duke studies.

For more information on this experimental treatment, please see the Duke Health blog.
